To
Err Is Human
To Really Screw Up You Need
A Computer
Have you
put your computer in the closet? Have you tried to turn it
on, but don’t know where the “on” button is? Have you pushed
a button and error messages pop up on the screen? Have you
turned off the computer, and it yelled at you the next time you
turned it on? Have you asked your teenage neighbor how to
turn off the computer and he gave you that “look”? Do your
grandkids know more than you on the computer?
If
you have experienced any of the above scenarios or something similar,
and wish to change that scenario, then this book is for you.
I have designed the book in a simple, easy to understand format.
I have tried not to use technical language in my explanations and
given steps to commands in a simple and easy to follow manner.
This
book is by no means all-inclusive, but designed to help the novice
user acquire some knowledge in working with the computer.
I have laid out the book in a format that starts by explaining what
the computer is, followed by the details of operating the
computer.
It
is recommended that you follow the book from page one to get the
most benefit from it. After that, the book should be used
as a reference guide to fine tuning the operations you want to learn
the most. I have found in teaching computers to senior citizens
and even college students that the most important thing is to practice,
practice, and practice even more. Some people can pick up
computers very easily; however, the rest of us need to practice.
I
have also found that the desire to learn is important. If
you are afraid of the technology of a computer or the machine itself,
it will inhibit you from learning and truly comprehending what you
are doing. Computers are fun. You can learn so much
today from exploring the Internet to sending email to family and
friends. You can scan photos from your shoe boxes, and send
them to family members. You can communicate with people on
the other side of the world and it will not cost you a fortune.
You can play games, type
letters, start a computer business, or find information on any subject.
The list is endless. I know sometimes computers can
give you a headache, but through practicing and not being afraid
you
can achieve a high satisfaction from the computer. Always
remember that no matter what you do to the computer, it can be fixed.
After all, it is just a machine, and like all machines they can
have issues.
There
is a great deal of knowledge out there;
this book will help you corner some of that knowledge in a simplistic
way, and begin the journey into the wonderful world of computers.

“All the many stupid
questions I’ve had about computers (but have been afraid to
ask) were easily and clearly dealt with in Karin’s Manual
– a “must read” for all those who have the common manual avoidance
tendency.” (Harold Weller—Conductor/Music Director -Las
Vegas Philharmonic) |

"So you have a
computer Now what??? Basic Introduction is a book that everyone
starting out with a computer should have on their book shelf.
Straight-forward, easy and most of all NON-intimidating
this book sets itself apart from other computer books.
You WILL learn the basics in a simple way and at the
same time have fun too. I highly recommend it for those with
no computer knowledge as a time saver to those
still baffled by computer technology. Robin Dayne (Internationally
known radio show host & Trading Coach on "You,
